1. there is no battery inside the remote control,
2. the infrared receiver is plug into player1 or 2 joystick slot.
3. plug the ps2 8 memory card into a memory card slot.the memory card must contain dvd driver.
4. remove the white protection strip.
5. press G/R button on the remote to switch over to joypad.
